Celebrating Flint Graduates and Community Education Achievements!

We are thrilled to congratulate all Flint graduates on their remarkable achievements! Graduating is a significant milestone, and on June 4, 2024, nearly 120 Flint Community Schools graduates walked the stage at the Whiting Auditorium – a 42% increase from last year. We are incredibly proud to have supported our community’s students on their journey to this accomplishment.

This school year, the Community Education team made commendable strides, surpassing their goal of serving 40% of the student enrollment at 16 Flint area schools through Thrive Afterschool, Success Mentoring, and innovative strategies. Transition activities were held at all sites to support students moving to the next grade or new school. A total of 1,111 unique students participated in these activities.

Spring Transition Activities:

6th Grade Transition Field Trip: Doyle-Ryder
6th graders will visit Southwestern to get a feel for the middle school they will attend next school year. They will tour the building, meet teachers and the principal, and engage in a panel discussion with current Holmes students.

6th Grade Transition Panels
8th graders from the student council will travel to Neithercut, DTM/Pierce, Brownell, Freeman, Eisenhower, and Potter to discuss the transition to middle school with 6th graders.

Additionally, our Success Mentoring program provided over 92,000 minutes of support. We invite community members to consider volunteering as mentors starting in August. If you’re interested, please reach out to support@theflintcenter.org.
